Welcome to The Grind
At Elite Hoops Basketball Academy, I feel it’s important to share my experiences with you all! Youth Basketball is a passion of mine. I want to create raving fans of this sport. Those who love to play it. Those who love to coach and teach it. And those who love to watch it!
Welcome to the Grind. I often talk to players about the Daily Grind. The Daily Grind is what all basketball players need. Showing up to practices will only improve your skills at the same rate as everyone else. If you truly love the sport and want to be the best version of yourself, you need to commit to the daily grind. Spend 10-15 minutes a day working on fundamental skills to further your development. I will post content on the Grind that includes research on youth sports, player development drills, coaching drills, and other insights into youth basketball to help the Parents and Coaches support their players.
To start, I’m a strong believer in creating opportunities in a positive environment and addressing the mental parts of the game. Kids love structure, whether they will admit it or not. I remember being a kid growing up and having your prototypical yelling coaches. You know them well, the ones that would just scream at you when you did something wrong, made a mistake, and likely made you or the whole team run sprints because of it. I promised myself I would never be a coach like that. The truth is, it never taught me anything but to be afraid of making mistakes. When you play any sport afraid of making mistakes, you are more inclined to MAKE MORE mistakes. Mistakes are part of the game, mistakes mean you are growing and pushing yourself to become better. Lean into the mistakes positively by asking yourself the WHY and HOW. Why did that happen? How can I fix it?
Stay tuned to The Grind for more to come!
